Scientific activities
The predecessor of the department began its operations with the foundation of the Transport and Telecommunications Polytechnic. The Department deals with the teaching, research and development of topics concerning the operation, diagnostics and maintenance of road (cars, commercial vehicles) and railway vehicles. This field includes the laboratory and operational processes and transport authority requirements of vehicle structures, internal combustion engines, vehicle diagnostics, vehicle inspection, automotive electricity and electronics, vehicle IT, the road safety and certification of vehicles, as well as the maintenance-repair and inspection technologies.
The department participates in the Vehicle Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Transport Engineering, Mechatronical Engineering, Vocational Technical Instruction and Engineering Management BSc programs, as well as in the Automotive Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Logistical Engineering MSc programs.
Laboratories operated by the department: Electric Vehicle Drive Systems, Automotive Mechatronics and Intelligent Vehicles, Automotive Diagnostics (L2/11), Electric Equipment of Vehicles and Electronics, Rail Vehicles Laboratory.
